A glitzy awards ceremony for the 2022 Bangladeshi Arts & Sports Association (BASA) Awards was held at the Norton Grange Hotel on 4 December.
BASA is a non-profit organization which was set up in Rochdale in 1990. It was created for the Bangladeshi community to keep socially and physically active, from organizing football matches to helping anyone and everyone in any way possible, promoting community cohesion and tackling social exclusion, in particular using the power of sports and arts.
Over 15 awards were given out on the night to a range of individuals and groups, including three Outstanding Community Partnership awards to Rochdale Connections Trust and Restoring Hope; Apocalypse Training Systems, and Get Together After Serving CIC.
Chairman Bikash Das said: “Motivating people is always a challenge but we at BASA achieved that from many of the activities we provide as a service including football activities, men’s and women’s strength group training, to reaching out to the high peak district walks.
“It is amazing to see everyone be a part of our community organization, which makes BASA special. To put the icing on the cake, the BASA 2022 awards were a fantastic event with so many dignitaries attending and enjoying the event. We wish to continue the hard work and dedication as BASA for the year ahead.”
