Being Well creative sessions at the Mind Wellbeing Centre

Free creative art sessions to aid mental health are taking place each Friday at the Rochdale and District Mind Wellbeing Center on Drake Street.

The two-hour-long creative workshops are designed to help people of any age benefit from the therapeutic benefit of art, and are being run by self-employed abstract artist, Dani Burke.

She said: “Getting creative is so beneficial for stress, depression and anxiety; it really changed my life.

“All materials are included and everyone is welcome.”

Dani began her home studio, The Studio Artisan, during lockdown after taking the plunge to follow her dream.

The single mum began painting around four years ago after her dad, David Burke, sadly died.

Unable to sleep and battling depression, Dani dug out some blank canvases and picked up her paints.

She also runs a similar art therapy session for women at Touchstones on a Monday morning, in collaboration with women’s support group, Soul Sisters.

The Being Well Creative creativity group runs every Friday from 10.30am to 12.30pm at the Mind Wellbeing Centre, 3-11 Drake Street, Rochdale.

The Ladies Creative sessions run each Monday from 10am-12noon at Touchstones, the Esplanade, Rochdale.
