Greg and Malcolm Cudworth completed Cancer Research UK’s annual Manchester Shine Night Walk on October 30th
The owner of Cudworth of Norden and his son took part in the annual Cancer Research UK Manchester Shine Night Walk on October 30th, wandering the busy streets of Manchester 10 km in the dark.
Starting from Castlefield Bowl, the father-son duo – Malcolm Cudworth and his son Greg – have made the 10km walk downtown in hopes of raising much-needed funding for Cancer Research UK, and those affected by colon cancer in particular.
This comes after a very turbulent and difficult 11 months for Malcolm and his family when Malcolm was diagnosed with colon cancer in December 2020, just three days before Christmas, and the outlook was very bleak.
In the past few months, the textile entrepreneur has not only had to undergo major surgery, but also three months of chemotherapy. Treatment is still ongoing but he has managed to regain some of his fitness and overcome the challenge, raising a huge amount of money for a good cause.
So far, the two have raised £ 1,785 for the Cancer Research UK charity – a massive 892% of their original £ 200 goal.

“For the past 12 months I’ve had a roller coaster ride, both physically and mentally, and without the help and support of the fantastic nurses and doctors I’ve met in a very dark time, I can honestly say I wouldn’t be here.” today and on the mend.
“Although the road is still a little rocky; I would like to take this opportunity to give something back to a charity that has helped me a lot along the way. “
