Anne Jones
Anne Jones’ family, who died on Sunday the 19th
60-year-old Anne Jones was hit by a car just before 5 p.m. on Edenfield Road near the intersection with Elmsfield Avenue.
The car – probably a gray Mercedes or Audi – didn’t stop.
In a statement, Anne’s family said: “Anne was so much more than just the best mother and wife imaginable. She brought loads of fun, love, and positivity into all of the lives she touched.
“The abundance of cards, flowers and messages that we have received is absolutely clear that everyone saw you as a source of love, joy and support.
“Anne was a servant to the Rochdale public and council for nearly 40 years. She enjoyed a very happy and energetic retirement when she was taken from us.
“She was loved by her family and friends for providing the glue that held people together.
“The fact that she was killed in the circumstances she was in is almost impossible to comprehend.
“We will never really come to terms with the loss and the emptiness that the family is feeling now. For these and many other reasons, the family would ask that they be allowed to mourn privately.”
Anyone with information about the incident – including dashcam or CCTV recordings from the area at the time – can report online or via the LiveChat function at www.gmp.police.uk.
