Around 150 meals were provided at St. Andrew’s Church on Christmas Day

The Army of Kindness volunteer group provided Christmas dinner to over 450 people in December.

With support from the Al-Khair Foundation, the group served around 150 people, including children, a warm Christmas dinner at St. Andrew’s Church, while over 300 meals were delivered to supervised homes, hostels and Rochdale families. The meal that day was prepared by Madina Catering.

Other sponsors who helped make donations available were Middleton Ice Cream (gifts), Panacea Motors (a £ 200 donation), Molesworth Hotel (a monetary donation and support), Action Together (disabled), Aspire 2 Inspire Communities (aid when setting up the venue), and the Croft Shifa (children’s gifts).

Christmas presents

Additional donations also came from Atifa Shah – who was a candidate in the last parliamentary elections – and the late Surinder Biant, who each presented winter sets with hats, gloves and socks as well as a donation for toys and gifts for families.

Trade Center UK workers even dressed up as Santa Claus and handed out toys to young people.

Mohammed ‘Shiri’ Sheraz of the Army of Kindness said, “A huge thank you to the Al-Khair Foundation for sponsoring the food for our Christmas dinner and all of our sponsors for your help, support and donations.

“Finally, thanks to the great Army of Kindness volunteers who selflessly help and support this day and sacrifice their family time to support others. You know who you all are and we are lucky to have you. “
