A racing driver and entrepreneur is set to feature the country’s best young go-karters in a new TV documentary series.

Matty Street, who owns TeamKarting indoor race circuit at Ensor Mill in Rochdale, is an executive on new eight-part series ‘Driven Dreams’, which will follow the journeys of 17 young karters.

Developed in collaboration with Street Star Studios UK, the series will follow the karters as they compete in Matty’s ‘Cadet Kart Championship’ – with some of the races filmed at TeamKarting.

The ‘stars’ of the show are being finalized in the coming weeks, after interested drivers were invited to apply, and some are completely new to the sport while others are experienced karters moving their way up in the industry.

Matty said: “This is a show made by racing drivers, for racing drivers and it’s our chance to shine a light on the huge amount of motorsport talent we have at grassroots level in the UK.

“There are a lot of myths surrounding the sport, including the belief that karting is only possible with a huge budget, but the stories we’ll share show that this isn’t the case.

Young go-karts Lucas Blandford and Jack Burgess auditioning for their role in new TV documentary series ‘Driven Dreams’.

The drivers we’ll introduce have a diverse range of stories, but each share a total commitment to racing – you’ll see drivers who have missed a relative’s wedding, a father who quit his job to be able to travel for his son’s kart events , people make real sacrifices for karting, which is their passion.

The series, sponsored by Optimum Motorsport & Alchemy Car Products will be aired on mainstream channels and streaming services towards the end of the year.

Matty added: “Motorsport has been part of my life for as long as I can remember and it’s the most inclusive, environment in which to live, work and thrive and I’m looking forward to encouraging even more people into the best sport in the world.”
