Rochdale Highfields Hospital is partnering with Leigh Centurions for the new season

The rugby league team Leigh Centurions has confirmed BMI Highfields Hospital as a new healthcare provider.

The Centurions players participating in the Betfred Championship have access to leading specialists and state-of-the-art medical facilities.

As part of the Circle Health Group, Highfields Hospital on Manchester Road in Rochdale will provide health services through the end of the 2022 season.

Leigh was a founding member of the Rugby Football League in 1895 and plays its home games at Leigh Sports Village in Greater Manchester.

Karen Roberts, General Manager of Leigh Centurions, said: “We are very excited to continue this valued partnership as our players have rapid access to specialized medical care from some of the region’s leading specialists.

“Rugby League is a physically demanding and very competitive sport, especially at the top end, and ensuring that we do everything in our power to maintain the health and fitness of our players is our top priority.

“Our partnership with The Highfield Hospital has proven to be excellent and underlines the commitment that we as a club have for our players, who spend eleven months of the year training and playing every week for the team, the city and our loyal supporters. ”

Sean Crooks, Executive Director of Highfield Hospital, said the new partnership was “a great opportunity to provide professional athletes with access to rapid diagnostic services and treatment.”

He added: “We are very proud of the partnership with the club and we will follow the fortunes of the Centurions with great interest.

“Players will continue to have access to some of the most advanced medical equipment, specialized healthcare and the expertise of seasoned advisors working with a specialized healthcare team.

“The team consists of committed nursing staff, anesthetists, radiologists, professionals and recognized physiotherapists.”
