Rochdale County Freemasons donate the gift bags to the hospice with Springhill Hospice General Manager Sam Wells.
The district Freemasons donated gift bags to patients during their annual visit to Springhill Hospice.
Each year, the district’s Freemasons in Rochdale, Greater Manchester visit Springhill Hospice to give away the bags that contain items such as toiletries, as well as some festive goodies for patients and their families for Christmas.
Unfortunately, due to the restrictions in force, the Freemasons were unable to visit the patients in the inpatient unit as usual to chat and wish them a Merry Christmas.
Doug Smith, district chairman, said, “The hospice is such an important part of the year for many individuals and their families, and especially during the holidays.
“It is always a pleasure for us to help members of our community in their need.”
John Taylor, district charity chair added, “We are always thrilled to be supporting the hospice and its fantastic work.”
The gift bags are distributed by the community’s specialized palliative nurses to patients who are cared for at home in the hospice.
Sam Wells, General Manager of Springhill Hospice, said, “We know it’s Christmas at the Hospice when the Rochdale County Masons come with the Christmas gift bags.
“This is such a wonderful tradition and means so much to the families who will receive it.”
