Northern is preparing for four years since the Manchester Arena bombing.

The train operator will celebrate the anniversary of the attack by broadcasting a minute’s silence in memory of the victims at Victoria Station on Saturday May 22nd at 12 noon. The silence of the minute will also take place on his Facebook page as it will allow those who are socially distancing themselves to show their respect from the comfort of their own home.

Floor stickers in the shape of the Manchester worker Bee were placed on the floor of the station every two meters around the memorial so that the public can pay tribute to the victims and distance themselves socially.

Station staff light 22 bee candles to commemorate the victims and help those who wish to pay tribute in person comply with applicable restrictions.

Northern will also observe a minute’s silence at 10:31 p.m. – the exact time of the attack and the exterior of the station will be illuminated in yellow.

Jenny Preston, Manchester Victoria Station Manager, said: “On Saturday we will once again pay our respects to those who lost their lives in the attack on the Manchester Arena. Our thoughts stay with all those affected by the tragedy and especially with the families and friends of those who have lost loved ones.

“We want to make sure that everyone who wants to – including those who cannot be here in person – has the opportunity to show their respect to all concerned. For this reason, we broadcast our minute of silence live on our Facebook page at 12 noon.

“We understand that a lot of people want to visit the train station on Saturdays and we urge anyone passing through to abide by the social distance rules and take normal precautions when using our trains to travel.”

The area near Soldiers’ Gate in Manchester Victoria Station, managed by Northern, is a permanent memorial to those who lost their lives in the arena. In honor of the victims, the well-known local graphic artist Dez was installed as Loveartpix.

Dec said: “It is an honor to have this piece of art created in memory of the victims of the Manchester Arena bombings and to see it hanging in the station. As I come from the city myself, I wanted to represent our strength and unity – symbolized by the worker bees. My thoughts go out to everyone affected by this tragedy. “

Visitors to the station also have a place to think as a new bench and blossom tree have been installed at Soldier’s Gate.
