According to figures from Illicit Encounters, a website for people wanting to have an affair, Rochdale adultery has increased by 3 per person in the last year.
A new scam card shows 819 people in the city are having an affair – up from 799 last year.
The main reason for the surge was the end of pandemic restrictions and people’s dissatisfaction with their partners during lockdown search affairs as the country returns to normal.
IllicitEncounters.com spokeswoman Jessica Leoni said: “We have seen an increase in fraud over the past year in Rochdale and across the Greater Manchester area, especially since the beginning of the fall, with almost all adults being double-jabbed.
“Record numbers of people came miserably back from their summer vacation looking for excitement after being bored for 18 months and stuck at home with their partners.
“We enjoyed the busiest year in our history, with women in particular looking for a new start and participating in unprecedented numbers.
“The wave of fraud will continue as more of us return to the office in the run-up to Christmas. Adulterers often use work to cover up their affair. “
Figures for other cities in Greater Manchester include Manchester with 27,224 scammers versus 25,734 last year, Altrincham with 2,994 scammers versus 2,605 last year, and Salford with 1,251 scammers versus 1,153 last year.
However, Bolton has seen a drop to 684 cheaters, down from 720 last year.
The figures are based on Illicit Encounters’ own extensive data on the number of fraudulent British people.
