The ever-popular Christmas markets at the Oxford on Whitworth Road are returning over the first two weekends of December.

The markets are this year completely under cover with a different line up of stalls on all four days with the usual collection of foodies and gifts with some new faces and some even returning for their eighth year running.

From breweries to bakeries, florists to fishmongers and everything in between, food and drink on offer will include bratwurst, mulled wine, hog roast sandwiches, boozy hot Vimto, Yorkshire pudding wraps and more.

Tom McNeeney, chef at the Oxford, said: “After nine long years, the whole thing is totally weatherproof, and we couldn’t be happier about that. It’s been a real adventure fighting every possible element – even camping out in the marquee to make sure it doesn’t blow away in the night – but the idea of a cozy and dry market really does seem a lot more appealing so we’re doing that instead.

“We’ve never packed more into the weekends than this year. There’s a brass band on both Sundays bringing a little magic to the proceedings and a full program of live music over the two weekends from Christmas covers to full blown festive disco.

“Mark’s even putting on a festive line out of drinks inside the pub from cherry porters to pumpkin spiced espresso martinis, we’ve got all the bases covered. There’re still a few tables available inside the pub too but booking over those weekends couldn’t be more heavily advised.”

The markets will be open from 12 noon to 6pm on Saturday and Sunday (3, 4, 10 and 11 December).
