The German beer festival Oktoberfest is coming to Rochdale after it was canceled last year due to the pandemic.

From Friday, September 17th, the two-day beer festival will take place in the Champness Hall.

The hall will be decorated in a traditional Bavarian style to bring an authentic German flair to Rochdale.

In addition to German beer, the award-winning Jäger Mäestros Oompah Band will provide live music, while traditional sausages will be delivered by the Lancashire Catering Cooperative and pretzels by a German bakery based in Bolton.

A spokesman for the event said: “The traditionally dressed room with blue and white colors will characterize the room, long tables bring an authentic Oktoberfest atmosphere and, above all, lots of mugs full of beer to swallow the whole evening.

“We have the award-winning Jäger Mäestros Oompah Band who will entertain you through the evening with traditional oompah music but with a modern twist, as well as a variety of party drinking games.

“We guarantee you won’t be sitting for long before you feel the urge to get up and sing and swing through the night!”

Last year’s festival had to be canceled due to Covid, but tickets for this year’s event are available at www.whatsoccurrinrochdale.co.uk/tickets.

The spokesman added: “Another must for every Oktoberfest is wearing traditional lederhosen and dirndls and of course we will encourage you all to dress to impress!

“Our employees will certainly look good and it goes without saying that they will be rewarded for the best clothes of the evening. So be sure to visit the costume stores over the next few weeks while you still have time.

“It’s about bringing the community together for an evening of live music and laughter in one of the best hidden spots Rochdale has to offer.”
