On Friday, May 7, the Minister of Transport outlined the government’s traffic light system, with 12 countries initially on the green list. Each level has its own limitations, such as: B. Quarantine and testing requirements when returning to the UK.
Passengers should read and find out about their destination and which tests they need to book.
Government Passenger Search Form:
All passengers arriving in the UK regardless of their destination are required to complete a passenger search form prior to travel. Otherwise the immigration time may be delayed. This process is administered by the UK Border Force
Due to the pandemic, many passengers have not flown through Manchester Airport for a long time. Therefore, there are some important changes to consider before you travel. The airport has worked closely with all of its partners throughout the pandemic to gear its operations to passenger demand and deliver the best possible customer experience. In order to efficiently meet the current capacity and demand for travel, flights to and from Terminal 1 are still being operated.
Despite having 12 destinations on the green list, Manchester Airport only flies a handful of them and airlines are still confirming which routes they will serve. As soon as these are confirmed and offered for sale, the airport will be updated accordingly.
44 departures and 42 arrivals are scheduled to take place on May 17th. The first flight of the day is at 6:00 a.m. to the Portuguese island of Madeira.
As restrictions relax and people can dine and drink indoors from Monday, passengers have additional retail options to enjoy before their flight.
During the pandemic, Manchester Airport implemented a number of Covid-19 security measures. These include improved cleaning, plexiglass umbrellas, mandatory face covers and disinfection stations. It is generally accepted that social distancing is not always an option in a transportation setting. Therefore, these measures help ensure the safety of passengers when they are unable to keep their distance.
The airport continues to follow the latest advice from Government and Public Health England, as it has done throughout the pandemic. Please visit www.manchesterairport.co.uk/coronavirus for the latest information
On-site parking is also currently reduced. Passengers are advised to book their parking spaces online in advance to get the best price. Alternatively, Manchester Airport’s 24/7 transport hub offers a variety of rail, tram, bus and coach connections. Taxis and private rental companies also drive on site.
Passengers dropped off by friends or family can use the free drop-off area in JetParks One, from which passengers can take a short shuttle bus ride to the terminals. Please note that the bus is currently only available on request on 0161 489 8666. Alternatively, passengers can be dropped off directly in front of the terminals and the train station.
The fee for this is £ 5 for five minutes and £ 6 for 10 minutes and is payable at curfew.
Karen Smart, General Manager of Manchester Airport, said: “The resumption of international travel and the introduction of the Green List is an important step in easing Covid-19 restrictions. Monday will be a symbolic moment for us as we welcome passengers and colleagues back to the airport.
“We know that many people have not flown in a long time due to the pandemic, but I want to reassure all of our customers as we continue to implement the highest quality Covid-19 security measures at Manchester Airport.
“I would also like to thank all passengers for complying with the measures that apply in these uncertain times, as well as all employees who have done everything to ensure safe travel for everyone.
“As we head out to recovery, we will continue to work closely with all of our partners across the airport to ensure that passengers have the best possible experience when they leave on a well-deserved vacation or when they finally see family and friends.
“We will continue to work closely with the government to enable a more meaningful fresh start for international travel by using the UK vaccination program to increase the number of countries on the green list and to remove restrictions altogether over the course to work towards the time. “
